Burglar Alarms can range from minimal to very elaborate depending on the size and type of building and the budget. We recommend at least protection on all exterior doors plus one Motion Sensor inside. Other minimum components include a system Keypad, Control Box, and at least one Siren (preferably sounding outside). Other options include Window Contacts (detect when window is open), Glass Break Sensors (hears the sound of glass shattering in the room), Smoke/Heat Detectors, Carbon Monoxide Detectors, Gas Leak Detectors, Interior Sirens and additional Keypads.

Most alarm systems are now monitored through a 24-hour monthly monitoring service. A burglar alarm does not have to be monitored in order to function, but they are much more effective when someone will be notified upon intrusion. The primary purpose of monitoring is not only to summon police help (which is important of course) but also to help to locate and notify you or list of people you designate. When your system includes Fire Protection, monitoring is even more critical in giving you the full benefits of this technology. Our burglar alarms can also monitor special non-security conditions such as temperature (e.g. alert when a freezer fails), water leaks, power failure or anything else that's important and can be measured electronically.

Price: A minimal system could cost $700 in new construction. In the under 4000 sq. ft. range of existing homes and businesses they often fall in the $1000 to $2500 range for mid to high levels of protection such as all windows/doors, motion, etc. In larger jobs, especially with higher-end features, the system can go to $5000 or more.
