| Card Access is a security technology that electronically locks your doors and only allows authorized people to open them. A person tyring to get in the door must swipe his/her access control card, which is then checked against a database of authorized people. If the card is valid, the person gets a green light and the door unlocks. Card Access is not cheap, but it's popular among facility managers because it greatly simplifies access to the building as employees turnover. Compare the cost of changing locks on 25 doors when a deranged former employee fails to turn in his keys to the cost of simply typing in "Delete Cardholder: John Doe". The other major benefit of Card Access is the Audit Trail. This gives you an electronic history of every time the door is access and by who's card. Very helpful in the prevention and defense of lawsuits. A controlled door can be set up to automatically unlock during certain times of the day, such as normal business hours, then go into secure mode after hours. All kinds of places can be controlled by card access, including special rooms with sensitive contents, parking lots (by controlling the gates) and even elevators (users are only allowed to go to floors for which they are authorized). Many access control systems can be spread over multiple buildings, even buildings in different locations. Wilde Area Networking is used to tie these different buildings into one complete system. Price: Allow $3000 per door, including the cost of the central processor computer and installation. Request more info |
